Curation
So for this post I'm going to talk about content curation, which "is about mining the internet for material that can be shared on your social networks." (The Definitive Guide to Content Curation: Strategies, Tips, and Tools: A Hootsuite Blog by Natalie). In the previous blog post I talked about Qualman's book, What happens on Campus Stays on Youtube. Going back to this book Qualman says, "Instead of aiming for broad and shallow, focus on a few things with depth. Find your niche". In the case of finding content for your social media you want to stay with content relevant to who you are and your interests. We need to create a "Content Curation Strategy" that will allow us to post "meaningful and organized" content. "This is what makes the difference between mediocre and exceptional content curation in business."(Natalie). By finding relevant material content curation can actually help your business in several ways: (From the Blog)
1. It alleviates the pressure to create
You might not have the time to make enough fresh content to keep the conversation going on social. Content curation helps fill that need.2. You lessen the ‘me, me, me’ factor
When someone’s talking about themselves all the time, it gets old real quick. Curated content helps with that.3. Online networking opportunities
UpContent’s Marissa Burdett says that sharing curated content can help you make connections with leaders in your industry. She also explains that it could spark conversation with your social media audience in general.4. You become seen as thought leader
If you’re sharing posts about the latest trends in your field, it shows that you’re engaged on a deeper level.5. Grow your business
Braveen Kumar writes all about this in a Shopify blog post on using content curation to grow your ecommerce business. This can happen through things like strengthening your email list and defining your brand online. These things can present a very good professional image and decreases pressure on you and your company. One very interesting point that Natalie makes in her blog is that we should divide our posts into the rule of thirds. One-third should be brand promotion, Another third should be content curation, and another third should be conversations that are going on in your social network.
Schedule when you want to post content, make sure it's relevant and credible, and you will have a stunning flow of content to engage your followers/customers.
See ya next post!

Thanks for the shoutout, Tyler! Great points about curation and a nice round up of articles that expound on the topic (an example of curation itself!).
